Data corruption is the unintended change of a file or the loss of info that usually occurs during reading or writing. The reason could be hardware or software failure, and because of this, a file may become partially or completely corrupted, so it will no longer work properly as its bits shall be scrambled or missing. An image file, for instance, will no longer present a true image, but a random combination of colors, an archive will be impossible to unpack because its content will be unreadable, etcetera. When this kind of an issue occurs and it's not identified by the system or by an administrator, the data will be corrupted silently and in case this happens on a disk drive that's part of a RAID array where the data is synced between various drives, the corrupted file will be reproduced on all the other drives and the damage will become long term. A number of frequently used file systems either don't have real-time checks or do not have good ones that can detect an issue before the damage is done, so silent data corruption is a common issue on internet hosting servers where substantial volumes of info are kept.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Shared Hosting

We guarantee the integrity of the info uploaded in any shared hosting account that is created on our cloud platform because we use the advanced ZFS file system. The aforementioned is the only one which was designed to prevent silent data corruption through a unique checksum for every single file. We'll store your information on a large number of NVMe drives that work in a RAID, so the exact same files will be accessible on several places at once. ZFS checks the digital fingerprint of all files on all of the drives in real time and if the checksum of any file is different from what it has to be, the file system swaps that file with an undamaged version from some other drive from the RAID. No other file system uses checksums, so it is easy for data to become silently damaged and the bad file to be replicated on all drives over time, but since this can never happen on a server using ZFS, you don't have to worry about the integrity of your information.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you get one of our semi-dedicated server solutions, you won't have to worry about silent data corruption because we use ZFS - an advanced file system that checks all files in real time. Each time you upload a file to your hosting account, ZFS will assign a unique digital fingerprint to it - the so-called checksum. That file will be synced between several NVMe drives for redundancy, so if a drive fails, the other ones will take control. ZFS compares the checksum of all of the copies on the different drives and in case it detects a corrupted copy, it replaces it with a healthy one from another drive. This is done instantly, so there will be no risk for any part of your content at any time. In contrast, all of the other file systems carry out checks only after a system failure, but since they do not use anything similar to the checksums that ZFS uses, they will not detect silently corrupted files, so a bad copy could be replicated on the rest of the disks as well and you can lose critical data. As this is not the case with ZFS, we can warrant the integrity of each and every file you upload no matter what.
