When you add a domain as hosted in some account, you normally set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that particular provider. On their end, three records are set up automatically right after the domain address is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain address where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that manages the e-mails for that specific domain name. The site and the e-mail hosting are often considered to be one thing, when they're actually two different services. Having independent records for them will enable you to have them with different companies if you'd like. As an example, some new company can have exceptional uptime for your website, but you may not want to switch your emails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain address to the former and MX records to have the e-mails with the latter, you will get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you wish to open a site or send an email - in any case, the provider whose name servers are used for the domain address is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you'll see the needed site or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared hosting from us, you are going to be able to see, set up and modify any A or MX record for your Internet addresses. Provided that a particular domain name has our Name Servers, you're going to be able to change particular records using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your site or emails directed to any other service provider if you would like to use only one of our services. Our innovative tool is going to allow you to have a domain hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted somewhere else by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain address the slightest bit. If you decide to use the email services of a different service provider and they want you to create more than 2 MX records, you can easily do that with only a few mouse clicks within the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You can even set different latency for each MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting CP, included with our semi-dedicated servers, allows you to view the A and MX records for each of the domain names or subdomains in your account and if required, to update any of them or set up new ones. Handling these records is very easy since all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so updating a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Setting up a new one takes a few more clicks and if you experience any problems, you can check out our instructional videos on how to create A and MX records. Our system is intuitive enough to be used by individuals with little or no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to give you complete control of all records and to enable you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're switching your emails to a different company and they ask you to create more than two different MX records, you may choose the priority of each one.
